Brief History of Horticulture Polytechnic, Adilabad

As per the G.O.Ms.No.204, Agril & Cooperation, dated 16-08.2003, Andhra Pradesh Government considered the proposal for establishment of Multipurpose Polytechnic at Adilabad under the ANGRAU from the academic year 2003-2004 with an intake of 25 students. Later it was came under SKLTSHU after bifurcation of Telangana State. From the academic year 2022-23 students intake increased by 40. The college has boys and girls hostel separately with acreage of 45 with mango, citrus, sithaphal crop blocks and nursery. The college has secured more no. of ranks in HORTICET exam conducted by SKLTSHU. The college has one NSS unit which regularly conducts awareness camps on health, fruit, vegetable cultivation, and their value addition in the adopted villages.

Eligibility for Students:

• Pass in S.S.C or equivalent examination.
• Must have studied at least for 4 years in the schools located in rural areas (non – municipal areas) i.e. from 1st to 10th class.
• For OC & BC category candidates minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required is 5.0 (including Hindi).
• For SC, ST & PH category candidates minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required is 4.0 (including Hindi).

Age:

The candidates for admission to first year Polytechnic Diploma Courses in the University shall be required to have completed 15 years of age as on 31st August of the year of admission with an upper age limit of 22 years.

Selection process for Diploma Courses

Admissions are based on rank obtained in POLYCET entrance exam being conducted by State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana State every year.
