The College of Horticulture, Malyal, Mahabubabad is one of the three constituent colleges under Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTGHU) established in the year 2023 under Go.Ms.No.29 Dated 10-08-2023 of Government of Telangana & Proc. No. 198/Est./SKLTSHU/2023 dated 25-09-2023 of the Registrar, SKLTSHU. This institution marks a significant step in the university’s mission to expand quality horticultural education and promote horticultural innovation across the state of Telangana.

Education

The college is currently offering the four-year B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture degree. Meritorious students are admitted to the campus based on the rule of reservation and the rank obtained in the common entrance; EAPCET conducted by the Telangana State Council for Higher Education and HORTICET conducted by the University with an intake of 43 students for an academic year.  It is home to a dynamic group of young B.Sc. (Horticulture) students hailing from various parts of Telangana. With a focus on academic excellence, practical learning, and community engagement, the College of Horticulture, Malyal aims to produce skilled horticultural professionals who are prepared to meet the challenges of modern horticulture and contribute to the state’s agrarian growth.

As the campus continues to grow and develop, it is envisioned to become a hub for innovative teaching, field-based research, and farmer-centric extension activities.

 

Facilities available:

The College of Horticulture, Malyal, Mahabubabad is well-equipped with modern digital classrooms, a library, and separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, ensuring a comfortable and focused learning environment. The campus also features an in-campus students’ mess providing healthy meals, along with extensive horticulture fields that enable practical learning for hands-on training and experiential education.

 

 

Mandate:
1. To impart quality education in horticultural sciences at undergraduate level and develop skilled and knowledgeable professionals for the horticulture sector
2. To promote environmentally sustainable, climate-resilient, and economically viable horticultural practices that support rural livelihoods and nutritional security
3. To disseminate horticultural technologies to farmers through demonstrations, training programs, and field visits thereby bridging the gap between research and practice

• Attracted nearly 40 admissions in the very second year of establishment of college campus
• Rapid development of essential infrastructure including classrooms, laboratories, experimental fields, and student amenities to support holistic education

The college is presently located in Indira nagar, sharing its surroundings with reputed institutions such as the JVR Horticultural Research Station, Malyal, JNTU Mahabubabad campus, Government Nursing College and Government Medical College. This vibrant academic environment nurtures a collaborative and enriching atmosphere for students from diverse disciplines.
